We’re thrilled that Gopa is ready to look for his forever home!
Gopa is a very friendly and loving boy, who is looking for his new best friend. He loves nothing more than to come and hang out with his fosterer, and has even taken up lap cuddle time! Gopa would thrive in a home environment where his new owner could spend relaxed and chilled days cuddling with him. It’s amazing to see how much this boy has come out of his shell since moving environment. We know that his new human best friend is out there!
He has an overgrooming habbit that he is working through with us, so his hair is a little sparse at the moment. He also has a cauliflower ear! It certainly gives him a unique look, but we think he’s all the more lovely because of his little quirks.
Gopa is looking for a relaxed home envionment, preferably with someone who works from home/is retired. He is child friendly, but because of how stress has affected him in the past we would be looking for a home with older children (10+).
Because of his previous history, we are looking for a cat free home for Gopa so he can fully settle and feel comfortable. Gopa thrives with humans, so we are looking for a home preferablly with people who work from home or who are retired.
History
Gopa was originally relinquieshed to a rescue from a multicat household. He showed signs of stress being surrounded by other cats. He was adopted by his previous owner with another adult cat (not from the same house), and unfortunately the other cat was very dominant towards Gopa. This resulted in Gopa developing a habbit of licking himself due to stress.
Gopa’s owner took him to the vets and tried everything to solve the stress issue. They did find a medication that seemed to help Gopa relax, but unfortunately it seems that it affected his bladder. Therefore they stopped the medication and swapped Gopa onto urinary food to be on the safe side.
The owner tried to work with the rescue to find both cats space due to circumstance changes, but they didn’t have space. We offered help as we have experience with cat socialisation. Since coming into our care, Gopa’s overgrooming has stopped. We put this almost entirely down to a change in environment from where he learned his stressful behaviours (which didn’t stop even when the other cat was adopted out, cat’s a very particular creatures!). We’re grateful to Gopa’s owner for realising what he needed, and are now looking for a chill and relaxed forever home for Gopa.
Gopa has no ongoing medical conditions, but we have his full medical work up. Due to his preexisting conditions, adopters need to be aware of potential limits with regards to insurance. We will happily discuss these with any applicants.
Info
Gopa has been neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. He has tested negative for FIV and FeLV and has been treated for parasites. He comes with 5 weeks free insurance!
